Introduction
The Center for Future Government Studies at Tsinghua University's School of Public Policy and Management (SPPM) was established in October 2017. Leveraging the research strength and platform advantages of the SPPM, the center is dedicated to exploring the role of new technologies such as big data, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and the Internet of Things (IoT) in government innovation, government data sharing, government website evaluations, public services, and Internet governance. The center aims to explore and analyze paths for deepening government reform and innovative modes of government governance, providing support for modernizing China's system and capacity for governance.
Mission
The center is dedicated to serving society and the public. Focusing on national governance and government management forms, CFGS explores the transformation model of government management under the influence of the evolution of future government forms. It aims to cultivate interdisciplinary and comprehensive talents in public management and policy research, providing intellectual support for the modernization of the national governance system.
Research and Consultation
Based on the faculty strength and resource advantages of the SPPM, CFGS organizes high-level academic forums and seminars, publishes high-quality research results, promotes exchanges between government, industry, and academia.
1. Government data mining analysis and policy research
Through in-depth analysis of data from government websites and government service platforms, research is conducted on government performance, policy implementation, and reform innovation. Annual reports on government website performance evaluations and case studies of government service are regularly released.
2. Policy support and consultation services
Focusing on policy innovations and practical cases in areas such as open government data, government data sharing and exchange, and smart city, the center collaborates with national ministries such as the Office of the State Council, the Cyberspace Administration of China, and the National Development and Reform Commission, as well as local governments. Utilizing data resources on government decision-making, management, and service systems, as well as e-government and smart government platforms, the center conducts data mining and analysis, provides research reports, and carries out relevant academic research and consulting services.
3. Cutting-edge research on future government forms and governance
With the evolution of information and technology, such as big data, the Internet of Things, blockchain, and artificial intelligence, the landscape of future government will undergo changes or transformative innovation. CFGS will explore innovative paradigms of future government governance, publish academic reports, and facilitate the application of research findings.
