Tsinghua Seclected 10 Students to Participate in “Paris Climate 2015: Make it Work”

Tsinghua Selection for “Paris Climate 2015: Make it work” was held in Tsinghua University on the afternoon of April 23rd. 49 students from 20 departments participated in the final section. They were assigned as 9 parties competing in the format of position statement and modal negotiation. In the end, 10 students were successfully selected as Tsinghua’s representatives.

Besides, according to each team’s performance accessed by the judging panel, the African Group was selected as the Best Team, and the Oil-Producing Countries acquired the Best Argument and the Least-developing Countries acquired the Best Paperwork.

This project was co-organized by the School of Public Policy and Management, Institute of Low Carbon Economy, Tsinghua University and The Center for Industrial Development and Environmental Governance, with Office of Intenational Cooperation and Exchange, Tsinghua University Education Foundation, Youth League Committee, Office of Student Affairs.

The project was initiated by Science Po to encourage awareness and discussion among young people on climate change. Professor Laurence Tubiana, founder of the Institute of Sustainable Development and International Relations of Science Po, who's also designated as Special Representative on behalf of France at COP 21, along with a couple of other professors proposed and designed the project. The results of the negotiation simulation will be presented to the Paris Climate conference to be held in this December. All together 200 students will participate in this simulation (150 from France and 50 from other countries), and Tsinghua is the only team from China.
