Dr. Zhang Yongwei holds a Ph.D. in Corporate Management from Renmin University of China. He is currently Research Fellow at the Center of Tsinghua Think Tank, Vice President of the Institute for 21st Century Development, Tsinghua University and Secretary-General and Chief Expert of China EV100.
Dr. Zhang has long been committed to advancing research on the electric vehicle industry and the broader green mobility ecosystem. His work focuses on industrial innovation, corporate reform, energy transition, and strategic industrial development. He has led and undertaken numerous major research projects, with several policy reports receiving endorsements from central government leaders and the State Council, contributing directly to national policy formulation.
In the field of industrial transformation and energy transition, Dr. Zhang has led extensive research on industrial upgrading, intelligent manufacturing, and system innovation. His work has particularly concentrated on automotive electrification, intelligent connected vehicles (ICV), and autonomous driving technologies. He has produced a series of influential research outputs and played a leading role in advancing China’s Autonomous Pilot Cities Innovation Program.
In recent years, Dr. Zhang has directed multiple flagship ICV demonstration projects initiated by China EV100, focusing on top-level architecture design, institutional and regulatory frameworks, technological roadmaps, and development strategies for China’s intelligent connected vehicle industry. He has also actively contributed to the guidance of local pilot programs on autonomous driving testing and industrial ecosystem development.
Previously, Dr. Zhang served as Deputy Director and Research Fellow at the Enterprise Research Institute of the Development Research Center of the State Council, Deputy Secretary-General of the China Development Research Foundation, and Deputy Secretary-General of the China Association of Listed Companies.
