On January 25, SPPM students from the IMPA and MID programs joined together with Chinese students to celebrate Chinese New Year Eve at Ting TaoYuan Canteen. The theme of the celebration was the ‘Year of the Ox’ in the Chinese Zodiac. Other Tsinghua students who stayed at school during New Year also attended the celebrations. Senior leaders from the University, including the Party-Secretary Hu Heping and Vice President Zhang Fengchang brought their good wishes and blessings for the New Year and ate dinner together with the students. More than 30 students from SPPM attended the event and for many international students it was their first time to experience Chinese New Year. As is Chinese tradition, senior leaders warmly greeted all the students and handed out red packets for good luck and prosperity in coming New Year. SPPM Assistant Dean Ms. Meng Bo, director of SPPM library Ms. Liu Wuyi and their families also handed out small gifts representing the Year of the Ox to international students to share the joy of Chinese New Year and being part of the school family.
