Professor Daniel Hershkowitz, the Minister of Science and Technology of Israel, visited Tsinghua University to speak about the importance of cooperation between research institutes and the industry at the School of Public Policy and Management. The Minister was accompanied by the Israeli ambassador Amos Nadai and Minister Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission Iddo Moed on this official visit.
Prior to his lecture at SPPM, Professor Hershkowitz met with university Vice President, Professor He Jiankun. The two discussed the close relationship between Tsinghua University and Hebrew University and the Technion – Israel Institute of Technology, as well as the parties continued efforts in further strengthening the relationships.
During his lecture “Encouraging Cooperation between Research Institutes and the Industry,” Professor Hershkowitz highlighted the ways in which the Israeli government facilitates the finding of real world applications for basic research and transferring them to the industry, and vice versa. He also emphasized the importance of collaboration among nations, especially between Israel and China.
The one-hour lecture was organized by the School of Public Policy and Management, China Institute for Science & Technology Policy, and the Center for Industrial Development and Environmental Governance.
