
On March 19, SPPM held the 2010 UK-China Innovation Workshop for Sustainable and Equitable Development. The event was co-organized by the China Institute for Science and Technology Policy (CISTP) at Tsinghua University and Social, Technological and Environmental Pathways to Sustainability (STEPS) at the University of Sussex, and received support from the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) of China, UK Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS), and UK Department for International Development (DFID).
The workshop covered five topics of discussion: Innovation, Sustainability, Development: A New Manifesto; Comparing UK-China Approaches to STI Policy for Sustainability; Building sustainable innovation capabilities among UK and Chinese firms; International collaboration for more equitable low-carbon development; and Science, Technology and Innovation among BRICS and implications for global governance. Dean XUE Lan of SPPM gave the welcoming remarks. 35 scholars from both China and the UK participated in the workshop.
