In order for IMPA students to develop a better understanding of Chinese culture and history, they must be able to experience a typical Chinese festive atmosphere. On the morning of October 8th, 27 students from the 2011 group of IMPA students and two visiting scholars took part in a Badaling Great Wall sightseeing tour, and were accompanied by several Chinese MPA students as well. The trip greatly promoted the understanding and communication abilities of both Chinese and international students.
The students simultaneously climbed up the wall, exclaiming about the structure’s grandeur as they went, while enthusiastically learning about the Great Wall’s history and architectural background. When the students heard that the wall was built solely by human hands and not by machines, they gasped at the Chinese people’s courage and ability to overcome difficulty and obstacles.
