Review of findings of the report of the United Nations Secretary-General’s High-level Panel on Global Sustainability
On April 17, the No. 94 Mingde Forum, lecture of “Resilient People, Resilient Planet: A Future Worth Choosing” was held in the auditorium of School of Public Policy and Management. The event was jointly organized by Tsinghua SPPM, Jiefang Daily, and UN’s China Office, and sponsored by Center for Industrial Development and Environmental Governance (CIDEG). The lecture is a review of findings of the report of the United Nations Secretary-General’s High-level Panel on Global Sustainability. About one hundred attendees participated in the lecture, including scholars, students and researchers from Tsinghua University, Peking University, and Chinese Academy of Sciences.
At the beginning of the lecture, Prof. Qi Ye from SPPM and Mr. Yin Minghua, President of Jiefang Daily Newspaper Group respectively made a short opening remark. Then, Mr. Janos Pasztor, Executive Secretary of the Secretary-General’s High-level Panel on Global Sustainability, and Prof. Luo Yong, Deputy Director-General and Professor of National Climate Center, China Meteorological Administration delivered keynote speeches on analyzing the report.
The following delegates convened commented on the report and analyses: Prof. Qi Ye, Director of the Climate Policy Initiative and Professor at School of Public Policy and Management, Tsinghua University; Zhang Xiliang,the Director for Institute of Energy, Environment and Economics, Tsinghua University; Mr. Edward Clarence-Smith, Representative to China of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization.
Prior to te lecure, Prof. Xue Lan, Dean of SPPM and Director of CIDEG, met with Mr. Janos Pasztor and his delegation.
