On May 22nd, Professor WU Yongping, Associate Dean of SPPM, attended the VII Astana Economic Forum held in Astana, Capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and delivered a speech on the topic of “Leadership Competences in China’s Civil Service”.
The Forum attracted over 10,000 participants from 150 countries this year, largest one ever in terms of the scale of participation, including numerous leaders of an international community of experts, top-level political representatives, heads of businesses, Nobel Prize Laureates and other eminent scientists and economists. It covered areas of issues including investment, innovations, financial and economic stability, civil service, social and cultural aspects of economic growth, globalization and integration process, etc.. Professor Wu joined the panel of “Civil Service Personnel Management: Current Issues and Prospects” and exchanged with the audience afterwards.

The Astana Economic Forum was first initiated in 2008 and organized by OLP “Association” Eurasian Economic Club of Scientists and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Kazakhstan. It has become one of the largest international forums in the world. Held annually, it brings together world leaders, academic experts and high-level business representatives to find solutions to the greatest economic and social challenges of our time.
During the trip, Prof. Wu also visited the Nazarbayev University and the Eurasian National University.
