On Sept 14th, a Mid-Autumn Festival Gala was held in the lobby of SPPM. Moon cakes with various flavors were served for students and the lobby was decorated with beautiful ball-flowers. Associate Dean Meng Bo and Associate Professor Yin Chengzhi, as the representatives of the faculty, joined more than 70 international students from MID, MIDG, IMPA programs, and enjoyed together this great event.

During the Gala, students shared the traditional festivals in their home country, followed by various fantastic performances. The poem recitation by Haris, MIDG 2015 student from Albania, was very touching. The traditional Eritrean and Rwandan dance enlivened the stage. The song by Jamaican students Sharlene and Tina (IMPA 2016) was full of enthusiasm and passion that made every one stand up and dance together along the music. After a beautiful Chinese song Prelude to Water Melody, the gala came to a successful end.

Falling on the 15th day of the 8th Chinese lunar month every year, the Mid-autumn Festival is the second grandest festival after the Spring Festival in China. As the moon is at its fullest and brightest at that time of the year, the day is also known as the Chinese Moon Festival. It is a day for family reunion and everyone gathers together to enjoy eating moon cakes and appreciating the beauty of the full moon.
