Dr. Zongchao Peng, professor in the Institute of Social Organization and Social Governance/chairman of the school council, School of Public Policy & Management, and director of the Center for Crisis Management Research/ Center for Social Risk Assessment in China, Tsinghua University.
He was a visiting fellow of Asia Program at Harvard Kennedy School from 2006 - 2007. He received his Ph. D. in Political Science from Peking University in 1999. During 1999-2001, he was a postdoctoral researcher in the Development Research Academy for the 21th Century of Tsinghua University, focusing on the study of China’s newly established public hearing systems.
He used to be one of vice presidents of Chinese Public Administration Association. he is one of Executive Council members of Chinese Emergency Management Association.
He has taught some graduate courses, mainly including Public Crisis Management and Public Policy Analysis.
His MOOC course on Public Crisis Management received a national award from the Ministry of Education in 2018. His co-authored book on the cooperative-harmony democracy in China got an award from Beijing in 2017. His co-authored book on the public hearing system in China received an award from the Ministry of Education of China in 2007. In 2001, his Ph. D. dissertation, “A Comparative Study of Direct Election Systems for National People’s Representative”, received an award from Peking University.
