On Mar.26, over 20 students from IMPA class gathered in the student lounge of SPPM to learn Tai Chi Quan, an exercise originated from ancient China.
Two Chinese students from Tai Chi Club were invited to introduce the basic philosophy and postures of Tai Chi. Different from western sports where the harder and quicker the better, Tai Chi emphasizes that softness is stronger than hardness, yielding is more efficient than confronting. It is just conformed to Chinese traditional culture and way of behaving. After the brief introduction, students got know more background information about Tai Chi.
Later, following the breakdown pictures and pose demonstration, IMPA students started to imitate Tai Chi movements slowly. Most of them did it very well and Chinese students adjusted their positions in minor ways patiently. After several rounds of practice, they could grasp several general moves.
After the event ended, students expressed their thanks by presenting small gifts to their Tai Chi instructor. Some students sign up for joining Tai Chi Club. They believed that Tai chi would help them with mental relaxation and physical fitness.
