IMPA and CAMPUS Asia Students Attended 2015 Summer Lectures
From July 29 to August 14, SPPM held summer lectures, “Comparative Governance and Development Practice” for thirty-three IMPA 2015 students and five exchanges students from CAMPUS Asia Program. It is designed and moderated by IMPA academic chair professor, Zhenqing Zheng. The lecturers invited are all well known scholars and experts from world top universities and international organizations, with topics ranging from governance, public administration, and policy-making to economic development, industrial innovation and international relations, etc.

Since inception in 2013, summer course has been held for three years in success. This year, seven lectures regarding development practice, six lectures about regional comparison and one seminar are organized from May to August. The invited lecturers are Jean-Pierre Landau from Science Po, Richard Boyd from Leiden University, Douglas Zhihua Zeng from World Bank, Edward Q. Wang from Rowan Unversity, Kangying Li from New Zealand, Youngmo Yoon from International Labor Organization, Qingjie Xia, Anshan Li from Peking University, Steven White, Jun Jing and Yusung Su from Tsinghua University, and Larisa Smirnova from Russian Academy of Sciences.
In seminar session, 33 IMPA students from 20 countries and 5 exchange students from South Korea presented governance and development practice of their home countries and shared opinions and comments, which helped them better summarize what they have learned during summer lectures.
Students enjoyed the good interactive atmosphere with invited professors and raised lots of practical questions during the class. They expressed that attending summer courses helped them have a deeper understanding of comparative governance and development practice and it is quite valuable for development policy in their home countries as well as their career enhancement in the future.
