On April 7th, 8 IMPA students attended the Lecture by Hage Geingob, the Prime Minister of Namibia at Tsinghua University. Sonia Samupofu from IMPA 2014 Class participated in the interview as the only Namibian student at Tsinghua University. Moses Pakote from IMPA 2012 class returned to the Alma Mater as a member of the delegation as well.
Mr. Geingob delivered a speech entitled "A New Africa and My Life”. He gave a brief introduction of the economic development since Namibia was founded in 1990s. Meanwhile, he also analyzed the challenges that most African countries are confronted with.
In Q&A section, Mr. Geingob emphasized the importance of strengthening communication between Namibian students and Chinese students at Tsinghua University by mentioning Moses and Sonia. Sabino Akonydit from South Sudan also shared thoughts with Mr. Geingob regarding China’s investment in African countries and the development of South Sudan.
Students expressed that they felt honored to participate in the lecture by Namibian Prime Minister, which enabled them have a deeper understanding of African development and China and Africa relations.
Hage Geingob is a Namibian politician who has been Prime Minister of Namibia since 2012. Geingob previously served as Prime Minister from 1990 to 2002.
