“Guest Lecture Series ” course is designed to enhance the integrated approach to sustainable development adopted by the curriculum of Master in International Development Program. The course consists of a series of guest lectures by government officials, experts, scholars and practitioners from Chinese governments, foreign embassies and organizations in China, international organizations, NGOs, and Chinese and international universities. Its goal is to provide a unique opportunity for students to interact with experts, policy makers, and practitioners and gain a deeper understanding of challenges and practical experiences in the field of international development from a comparative perspective.
Main topics of guest lectures may include: 1) challenges of international development; 2) China development experience; 3) international perspectives and challenges of sustainable development; 4)public policy making, implementation and evaluation; 5); public management innovation in sustainable development; 6)international development and global governance; 7) other international issues.
The lectures will provide students with real world experience with more perspectives to understand China’s development. They can test their knowledge and skills they have learned in previous courses, which can then help them prepare and consolidate the dissertation.
From MID2014 class, only Guest Lecture (1 credit) will be open every sping semester. For MID2014-2015 academic year, below are a few highlights of the lectures:
