2014 SPPM Summer Commencement

SPPM Commencement for 2014 Summer Semester was held on Friday, July 4^th in the lobby of the school. Over 100 people witnessed this important and cheerful event. Besides nearly the 80 graduates, faculty lead by Professor Xue Lan and Professor Meng Qinguo, representatives from Dolby Laboratories, Inc., staff members, alumni, family and friends also attended the ceremony.

Associate Dean Ms. Meng Bo, as the host, warmly welcomed all the participants and congratulated all the graduates. Then Professor Wu Yongping, Associate Dean, also the Chairman of the School Sub-degree Committee announced the degrees conferred this semester.

Graduates and alumni representatives delivered speeches in the ceremony. During the ceremony, SPPM signed a scholarship memorandum with Dolby Laboratories, Inc. to establish a scholarship which will enable am outstanding Ph.D graduate to pursue post-doctoral studies overseas at the world’s leading universities and research centers and to secure teaching and research positions in China upon completion. Mike Chao, Managing Director, Dolby Laboratories, Greater China gave a speech to all the graduates.

Dean Xue Lan concluded the ceremony with a keynote speech. He encouraged the graduates to fulfill the school’s motto-, “cultivate the morality to serve the public in the society” after graduation. He advised the graduates to adhere to such ideals, not to be afraid of failure and be brave for innovation and be responsible for risks.
