Read:

On the morning of April 2, Senior Lecturer of MIT, Founding Chair of Society for Organizational Learning, Dr. Peter M. Senge was invited by the “Paris Climat 2015: Make it Work” project to give a lecture entitled “Systems Thinking and Climate Change: Building Intuition for A New Public Consensus” at SPPM. Associate Dean of SPPM, Ms. Meng Bo moderated the lecture. Close to 40 students participated in the lecture.

Peter pointed out four disconnects in public understanding of climate change, i.e. Exponential Growth, Thresholds (nonlinearities), Delays and The Basics of Carbon Accounting. These four disconnects affect public’s choice and action to deal with the climate change issue.

The “Paris Climate 2015: Make It Work” project was initiated by Science Po to encourage awareness and discussion among young people on climate change. The results of the negotiation simulation will be presented to the Paris Climate conference to be held in this December. All together 200 students will participate in this simulation and Tsinghua is the only team from China.
