SPPM Commencement for 2015 Summer Semester was held on July 11th in the auditorium of the school. Over 200 people witnessed this important and cheerful event. Professor Xue Lan, Dean of SPPM, Professor Meng Qingguo, Senior Associate Dean of SPPM, and over 20 faculty attended commencement.
Associate Dean Ms. Meng Bo, as the host, warmly welcomed all the participants and congratulated all the graduates. Then Professor Peng Zongchao, Associate Dean, announced the degrees conferred this semester. There were 143 graduates got degrees, including 10 PhDs in Management Science, 39 Masters of Management Science, 79 people of Master of Public Administration (MPA) degree and 15 people of Master of Public Administration in International Development (MID) degree.
Graduates and alumni representatives delivered speeches in the ceremony. Then, the outstanding graduates’ awards were issued by the school. Among them, four students received “Public Service Awards", 13 students received “Outstanding Thesis Award”. The last award was “Dolby Scholarship Award”, which aimed to encourage our PhD graduates to go abroad for postdoctoral research fellowships. Finally, 2011 PhD Guo Yue won this award and got 150,000 Yuan scholarship, later, he will go to Harvard University for further study. Vice President of Global Dolby Laboratories, Mr. Jeff Moon awarded Guo Yue and gave a speech to all graduates.
Dean Xue Lan concluded the ceremony with a keynote speech. He encouraged the graduates to fulfill the school’s motto-, “cultivating the morality to serve the public in the society” after graduation. He advised the graduates to adhere to such ideals, use public management knowledge to help them making the right judgments and choices.
